Montessori curriculum concept
The fundamental purpose of the Colegio Montessori is focused on training students in the areas of BEING, DOING, LIVING, KNOWING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP from the different contexts that surround them, from the use of active methodology as a means for the student to be an active agent in the construction of knowledge, within a classroom environment conceived and designed to be a meaningful learning space.
- The formation of the individual.
- Recognition and respect for individuality.
- Formation in freedom with responsibility.
- Training in social responsibility.
- Active learning.
From these bases, the academic training has in the areas its basis of differentiation through the learning and growth opportunities offered to students from:
The curricular structuring based on National and International standards (University of Cambridge) to be able to offer students the opportunity of the double degree once they meet the requirements for completion of their studies.
The application of the bases and principles of the Montessori method in Preschool, to strengthen the child's respect for himself, for others, for the environment and culture, which allows him to become familiar with the principles of unity, interconnection, and interdependence, which are essential to achieve the understanding of a cosmic education conducive to peace.
The school's multilingual approach, which emphasizes the learning of English as a second language and French as a third, allows its students to broaden the possibilities of university studies, interaction options and knowledge of other cultures.
In this regard, the English immersion processes are significant, both in Preschool and Elementary, to strengthen the acquisition and mastery of communication skills. Also of great interest are the exchanges to Canada, as a cultural and social opportunity, in which fifth and eighth grade students, in addition to immersion in English, experience the customs of this country. The learning of French has a fundamental place in the institutional curriculum starting in the 4th grade.
The incorporation of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) in the classroom as a dynamic agent of the teaching-learning processes and the development of information management skills, based on the development of classroom and collaborative activities and projects that strengthen respect for cultural diversity and the social construction of knowledge.
The strength in mathematical training, which enables the improvement of analytical skills and the structuring of mathematical thinking from the interpretation, modeling, solution, and communication of information.
Exploration in the Arts as a fundamental component of the curriculum, integrating experiences from different fields: plastic arts, music, theater, and dance.
All these elements are framed in a process in which evaluation has a continuous presence and a comprehensive character that provides opportunities for attention to individuality, a differentiating mark of the school and the basis for the establishment of continuous improvement actions that ensure a quality education, whose center is always the formation of the INDIVIDUAL.
