We are happy to inform that we compensated our carbon footprint with a certificate received from BANCO2. At Colegio Montessori Medellín, we have been calculating our carbon footprint since 2017, under the ISO 14064-1 methodology and reporting it in our sustainability report since 2018.
The term carbon footprint, refers to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, quantified in tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e), which are released into the atmosphere throughout the year or life cycle. In the 2017-2018 period, the total emissions were: 263.33 tCO2e, in 2018-2019: 242.24 tCO2e and in 2019-2020 we had a total emission of 164.66 tCO2e, of which we compensated 100% (165 tCO2e), through the project "Sustainable management of forests applied in ‘Oriente Antioqueño’ under the bank2 scheme."
This compensation is not the end of the process, but a commitment to contribute to climate change and sustainability, and to which we invite you all to take part through some environmental mitigation actions such as:
• Recycle! Separate usable waste (paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metals) from non-usable waste (napkins, toilet paper, contaminated packaging, etc.) and deposit them in the appropriate containers.
• Share the vehicle to get to School.
• Make efficient use of natural resources
