Photographer George F. Mobley, from National Geographic.

He was a staff photographer for 33 years, and his career led him through a broad variety of assignments, ranging from covering the White House during the Kennedy years to documenting the collapse of the Allende government in Chile.

He has worked on projects on every continent, covering areas as diverse as the Hindu Kush, the former Soviet Union, China, Mongolia, the Ganges River, the Amazon, the Japan Alps, Lebanon, and the Atacama Desert.

It was sucha great experience for both the children and the teacher. During the whole class kids asked him different questions about wildlife, his trips and personal life.

He looked at the pictures of the animals in the classroom and said he had had the opportunity to photograph all of them except for the white tiger and the koala. He also said that perhaps his favorite animal was the elephant. Students were really excited. He was told that IIIB had an animal patrol. Every week a volunteer is in charge of the bird feeder. That student has very special tasks:

1. Bring natural food for birds and squirrels every day such as fruits and nuts.

2. Double check that the 3B bird feeder is clean.

3. Place the food in the bird feeder.

4. Remember that snacks and all food that contains salt, sugar or fats can be harmful for wildlife.

5. If the students see people that are not giving proper food to birds or squirrels, the child must talk to them and explain the type of food wild animals need.

It is a wayto help out Montessori wildlife.

George F. Mobleywas really impressed with that idea and he said he would form his own animal patrol with his grandchildren.

At the end, Mobley wrote a very special message for the kids and signed it out.
